Jesus turns up to take away all the wines and
goodness from the Earth
A SCEPTICAL BIBLE READING OF REVELATION 14
With the Beast’s forces given the number 666
at the close of Chapter
13, this Chapter reminds us from the outset that God’s righteous ones
number some 144.000 giving the Godly something of a numerical advantage over a
grossly outnumbered opponent. It is not going to be a close call narrow
victory, but a holy massacre of the dammed.
The winners always write history, but here we
have the victory written over 2000 years before the battle, so Revelation is at
best propaganda by the pro-God militia.
The 144,000 hear a song from Heaven, sung by
God and all his Heavenly guests, including the multi-eyed monsters representing
the four corners of the Earth. The 144,000 hear the rally call and pledge their
commitment to the impending battle. Each of the 1444,000 is a virgin. An Angel
(God's airforce division representative) serving as their spiritual drill
sergeant flies over each of the 144,000 calling on them to repent their sins to
render themselves pure in spirit, ready for the conflict to come.
A second angel arrives, announcing news of how
the battle is raging. It (un-named angel genders are never specified in the
Bible, though many take them as male. None of the named ones being female)
declares that Babylon has fallen.
A third angel tells the mortals among the 666
servants of the Beast that they will face fire & brimstone Hell for
choosing the losing side for God is clearly not happy with their choice (even
though in pre-ordaining and prophesising it all God gave them no choice
anyway).
John is called upon to recite the names of the
righteous who fall in the battle between the opposing armies of angels, as
these heroes of the army of God are assured of a place in Heaven.
Christ puts in a personal cameo appearance
now, riding in on a cloud, wearing a golden crown and bearing a sharp sickle.
A fourth angel manifests it and instructs
Christ (taking orders from an underling?) to wield the sickle. Jesus sticks the
sickle into the Earth and all that is good in the World is destroyed. (Tasty
foods, earthly pleasures, etc).
A 5th Angel now instructs and
orders Christ to thrust the sickle again, and the vineyard grape all dies,
robbing us of the joys of alcoholic beverages. The wine-presses start to pour
out blood instead of wine (a reversal of the transubstantiation of Christ’s
blood conjuring trick from the Last Supper.
