A SCEPTICAL ATHEISTIC BIBLE READING OF
REVELATION 19
CHAPTER 19
In Heaven, the righteous ones have witnessed the epic decimation of Earth and humanity. They now congratulate God on a job well done, with no one suggesting a more painless death for any of us or arguing that such brutality is somewhat uncalled for. They all seem to think such punishment is apt and well called for. They find God all the more Holy for it. They behave like showbiz luvvies.
God, we are told, is now to be married in celebration of his evil attack on his own creation. As his bride is prepared for him, guests are invited, with the password ‘blessed are thee’. John, the journalist covering the event for Revelation, bows to God in prayer & devotion. God reminds him to keep taking notes of what he sees. One thing he doesn’t see as yet is the bride who God is due to marry.
What John sees is a white horse bearing a rider with the names ‘Faithful & True.’ And ‘The Word Of God’. He has a third name which is not shared with us. His clothes are soaked in blood. He leads an army of the righteous, and his thigh bears the tattooed name ‘King Of Kings’, giving away that he may be Christ himself.
An Angel calls on the birds of the skies to feed on the flesh of any mortal still walking the Earth, be they kings or ordinary men.
The war is short and brutal, with an inevitable outcome given how much God’s forces out-number their opponents. The Beast (second in power only to Satan) and his minions are captured and cast into a lake of everlasting brimstone fire – Hell, seen as being o Earth. The rest of us fall to swords, and carnivorous pigeons, starlings, owls, etc.
