BOOK REVIEW – PETER JONES – THE TRUE CONFESSIONS OF A LONDON SPANK DADDY 2008 Xcite Books. www.xcitebooks.com
A remarkable insight into the BDSM world of spankers and spankees, who like being beaten with the bare hand, paddles, and old school canes.
Jones reminisces on a number of his clients, seeking punishment from him for real or imagined wrongs. He presents safe words, which his consenting clients can use to stop their punishment any time they feel the need to end the pain. He is also willing to turn clients down, as he does with an old lady who tries to get him to punish her daughter without the girl’s consent.
The stories present both titillation and psychological study. Some of the descriptions of the beatings are painful, and scary rather than erotic. One man that his wife has been talking to Jones and hires him (with her consent) to beat her severely in his presence for doing so. Later, Jones describes his first encounter with a married couple, which shows that the stories are not given in a linear order. This random presentation also shows in Jones giving the details of the origin of his fetish only at the end of the book, as he moved from memories of an overheard thrashing given to a female student, to his first discovery of the extent of the spanking community on the Internet.
It would have been nice to see how he handled early clients, as he learned his craft, and how much pain was enough without being too much for them. We see him only at the height of his skills, and in near indifference to his wife, who knows nothing of his activities.
Jones sometimes makes love to clients, and just as often does not, when not invited to do so. He is also a man who practices what he preaches and the book begins when he goes to a terrifying female Dom who gives him a taste of his own medicine.
This is a lightweight read, giving some clues as to what goes on in the minds of people who do not separate pain from pleasure in life – it is stimulating reading, in more ways than one. Happy Spanking
