DIARY
– FRIDAY DECEMBER 15TH 2006.
Another quiet day. I was still
hoping in vain for word from Messaging Warehouse concerning whether or not they
were going to employ me. I e-mailed them with a reminder to at least have the courtesy
to let me know. They ignored that too. They couldn’t be bothered. Stuff ‘em.
I was running low on money so I walked to the bank to get some cash out, and pay some bills. I looked online for work, but this close to Christmas, few firms are hiring.
I added a page to my website on my old QUICKSAND PHOBIA and rested.
Late in the afternoon, my Service provider crashed on me again, forcing another
blood boiling anger inducing call to Orange Broadband who took half an hour of
my life away sorting it all out.
In the Evening I headed for The
Fringe Bar to drink with my friends. I
decided to have a bite to eat on the way there, and stopped off at a little café
and ordered a kebab, and a can of coke. One of the shop assistants produced a
can of orange juice instead, and then a can of diet coke. I kept correcting
this and he finally gave me the right item after running through a list of the
entire contents of the fridge. He now took my money. The order came to £4.10. I
paid with a £20.00 note and so I was surprised when he handed me back less than
£5.00. I queried this, and he
immediately starting arguing with his brother about how much food I had
ordered. I insisted that they just keep food and drink and give me back my full
£20.00. I told them quite literally that they were a couple of idiots and I
didn’t trust them to be able to prepare my kebab or cook it properly.
I went straight to the Fringe,
as there are few other decent eateries near to it. Some of my friends were out
and the bar was very crowded, with so many people celebrating Christmas already.
When I left the pub I headed for the Royal Tandoori Kebab House, near to The
Fringe Bar. The Royal had been closed earlier that evening. Meals here had varied in quality, but either
my sheer hunger or sheer chance made this one of their better nights.
