DIARY SATURDAY DECEMBER 16th and SUNDAY DECEMBER 17th 2006.

SATURDAY DECEMBER 16th

Not much happening today.  I ate the curry my Mother had made for my tea as breakfast. I read Batman comics all morning, and checked my various favourite online message boards and forums. I bought some wrapping paper to start wrapping my Christmas presents up as I am likely to see a few people for the last time before Xmas over the weekend.

I stumbled on a link to a writing competition run by Amazon Books, which I sent a story in for. This got me onto a forum site for writers at Gather, http://arthurchappell.gather.com/ where it is very difficult to navigate your way around.

After yesterday’s latest fiasco with Orange Broadband, I added a review of their lousy services to my Abstracts pages at http://www.shvoong.com/www/472839-orange-broadband/

I also added a review of a graphic novel – Pat Garrahy’s Batman – Cataclysm.  http://www.shvoong.com/books/472857-batman-cataclysm/.  I then wrote up several Xena Warrior Princess graphic comic reviews

And a film review of Batman Returns, after rewatching it on TV tonight.

I started wrapping Xmas presents, but quickly ran out of cellotape and labels. I’ll finish them tomorrow morning.

                  SUNDAY 17TH DECEMBER 2006.

Quite a busy day, starting with revision of my website. I fixed links to some of my film reviews, including Witchfinder General, Children Of The New Forest & Winstanley. I wrapped the Christmas present for my nephew Ian, as he was due to visit today, and also wrapped presents for friends, Gill & Tom, as I was going to see them myself today.

I headed into Manchester by bus, getting there for noon, and picking up a Christmas card for Sally, a friend of Gill’s.  The Fringe Bar was just opening up and I headed in, making use of the hour before Gill arrived to write out some Xmas cards and some reviews of films I have seen.

Gill arrived, and we got some food at The Fringe.  The chap serving couldn’t prepare us what we wanted (the bar itself was very busy for the Christmas period) but he offered us some chips on the house, which was very kind.

Suitably fed, Gill and I headed for the Printworks cinema, and decided to watch a film called Pan’s Labyrinth, which was not due to start for about three quarters of an hour. We found a bar that Gill had been told about, called Corbieres, which was excellent. (See my new entry in my pubs guide to Manchester). The film proved to be amazing. Following that, we stopped off at Rice, for a bite to eat, and then headed for FAB Café, where the film was an atrocious heap of dross called 2019 – After The Fall Of New York. Gill left soon after it started, having exchanged Xmas presents with me now.

Shortly after she left, Tom arrived. It’s a shame they didn’t see each other. They get on very well.

Having eaten a great deal already I was amazed when Charlie, who runs FAB Café, gave me some Lasagne, which she had made for herself and the staff. It was very good.

Film over; it was time to head home. After a brief chat with my Mum, it was time for bed. The end of a fabulous day.
