FILM REVIEW –
FEMALE VAMPIRE.
There is virtually no script, and about ten minutes
of dialogue in the
whole film, which has one of the most irritating piano scores ever
written. The plot, if there is one is just a female vampire with a
craving for all kinds of sex, chomping her way through a number of male
and female victims, literally shagging them to death. She mostly wears
no clothes at all - except when she is turning into a seagull (I thought
it was supposed to be a bat but the website I looked at about the film
says otherwise). The transformation takes place with the never smiling
undoubtedly attractive young actress suddenly getting a transparent
cloak on, which she then madly flaps about like wings before the scene
cuts to footage of a seagull in flight. When the vampire can't get
people to have sex with she has sex with the pillars on a hotel four
poster bed. She drives around in a car with a large Rolls Royce type
hood ornament, which flaps its wings (like a seagull). This is the one
genuinely cool thing in the whole film, except it would be so
distracting to a driver that a car crash would be inevitable The film
doesn't end, it just stops. It makes no sense at all, and the director
obviously just liked having a naked woman in shot as much as possible.
Surprisingly, this 1973 trash was actually a groundbreaking piece of
work, as it was one of the first avant-garde sex films made when France
relaxed its antiquainted censorship laws. It almost makes you wish they
hadn't bothered.
