THE DEEP END
Remake of a 1950's thriller, in
which a lady finds out her son is
involved in an underage gay relationship with a man in his thirties at The
Deep End club, and tries to talk the older man into ending the
relationship, - only to find he is willing to do so for lots of money - a
fight ensues between her son and the older man who then dies afterwards
entirely by accident, but she believes her son has murdered him and
disposes of his body in the lake near her home. When the body is found, the
police take little interest in her, but she does fall foul of two gay
blackmailers who have a porno video featuring her son and the man who
died, - various plot complications follow as se tries to raise the money
and hide the strange goings on from her family, - hence until the
cop-out idea of one blackmailer taking pity on her and turning on his
accomplice to save her, killing both of them and taking the evidence
with them. Ok, but nothing special. The gay angle isn't really explored at
all, in the original it was apparently a girl and a male lover, this
film is just being trendy in updating the theme, but it is a pretty
superfluous treatment anyway.
