CARD 4073587566875759 – JASON MILLAR. Record of his staff Disciplinary
Hearing at Lawford’s Of Pendle, Middleton Road, Middleton, Manchester. 8th
August 2013. Hearing commenced 9.17 am
– Concluded at 10.04 am.
A disciplinary hearing conducted by Timothy Grant 9712743954748641 in the presence of Human resources Representative Felix Beecroft 2258512064568757. A Trade Union Rep, Will Bailey 9349810169066148, supported Jason Millar.
Mr. Millar was reported to H.R for repeatedly arriving at work late. His ID Card doubles up as a clock card and confirms that he was at least ten minutes late for his 7. AM shift on at least four occasions following his previous Disciplinary hearing (5th July in the same year – resulting in a second written warning).
Mr. Millar came to the meeting with apologies and the repeated excuse that his journey to work was delayed by the sheer number of ID checks he had to endure. He travelled by train from Rochdale railway station. He was asked to show his ID at the station ticket office, during which time a train that he could have caught left the station. He was inspected again as he was about to board the train. Another inspection took place as he got off the train in Middleton, at New Mills railway station. As he was now aware that he was running late, Mr Millar decided to get a taxi into work instead of walking. He ran for a taxi that he spotted but an ID Card inspector pulled him up and asked to see his ID. Mr. Millar then had to show his ID Card to a taxi driver, who MR Millar criticised sharply for starting the Taximeter running even before he conducted the ID inspection. All of this added some twenty-five minutes to Mr. Millar’s journey to the office. Tat is why he was late.
Mr Millar’s ID card confirms that he was inspected at the times and locations he cites. His story is undoubtedly valid. However, Mr. Grant believes that Mr. Millar should have allowed for such delays and set out n his journey earlier to compensate for it. Mr. Millar, who has no driving license, pointed out that the train he usually catches to work is the earliest service of the day. He cannot possibly travel to work before that service departs. Mr. Grant reasoned that Mr. Millar’s contract stipulates that he has an obligation to be punctual in his duties.
Taking all aspects of the case into consideration, Mr. Grant and I concluded that a third and final written warning was an appropriate disciplinary verdict on this case. Lawfords have seen a sharp rise in late-comings to the workplace. Mr. Grant felt that an example had to be made. Mr. Millar considered appealing against the decision but eventually chose to let the matter stand unchallenged.
Mr. Millar’s file should be correlated to files 8123756102671021, 6107654366632108,. 5448759005397771 and 8486754530643238 These are the files of other staff members who faced similar disciplinaries for late arrival at work that day. 544875900539777was fired.

Carl Pepper’s Personnel report. – Added to the Millar 4073587668757595 file on 9th
November 2013.
Mr. Millar came seeking employment at our company on a day’s vacation time from his ongoing work at Lawfords. From the disciplinary report I conclude that he is worried that his recent late arrivals there (November 3rd and 6th respectively as his ID Card reading shows) may lead to a fresh disciplinary hearing for him. If it does lead to such, he would undoubtedly be dismissed from employment. I believe that Mr. Millar hopes to jump ship and work for my firm as it is closer to home for him and he will escape such a punctuality issue. While Mr. Millar is undoubtedly qualified to work here, I feel that his motives for seeking work with this company make him inappropriate for hire.

Following his earlier third and final warning for late attendance to his duties, Mr. Millar continued to turn up late and citing the same excuses. We also found out that he has been for interviews with other firms, such as Timmons, as the attached print out shows. Therefore we reasoned that dismissal was appropriate due to both late attendance and as a means of releasing Mr. Millar from a contract with which he was clearly unhappy. We wished him well in his search for other employment, and a very happy Christmas, and escorted him from the premises. Our electronic locks will no longer open upon the insertion of his ID Card.
