THE ACNE AND THE ECSTASY OF ADOLESCENCE.
His freckles make Jeckyll
Just want to Hyde.
He’s dating a girl but he daren’t step outside.
With his hair full of nits and a face full of zits
He can’t get in the clubs – He’s too young for pubs.
Money all spent, hair gel stuck down like cement
He wants to call her on his cell-phone.
Like Greta Garbo, he wants leaving alone.
Tons of talc later, and all Dads’ shampoo
Can’t convince him he doesn’t still smell like dog poo.
He wants to wear his cool Megadeth tee
Not the one Mum bought with its cute fluffy bunny.
His parents insist that he’s back home by ten.
He doubts if he’ll even have left the house by then.
Poor Pam would be waiting for him to show
While he thought up excuses for why he didn’t go
But then he’d never know if she had left him in the lurch
At their rendezvous place behind St. Luke’s Church.
He decides to make himself go in the end
And there she is smiling, his first true girlfriend…
