WEBSITE REVIEW - ORANGE
ORANGE – http://www.orange.co.uk/time/broadbandaccess/ Official website for my Internet Broadband Service non-provider. Orange used to be called Freeserve, and then became Wanadoo. The latest name change shows a tendency to indecision and poor money management. Chameleons change colour less often than Orange change names. As Freeserve their services were not bad, but Orange, one of the largest telephony companies in Britain, are very poor. This is particularly noticeable with their call centre (based in India and staffed by grossly underpaid workers who speak poor English), where they consistently fail to put right problems they cause themselves. They often tweak your BIOS settings and then forget to notify you so that the first inkling you get of a problem is when you get log on error messages such as ‘691 – your user name and password are not recognized’. You phone them up to query this. You are put on hold several times, and go through a slow chain of If this press 1, if that press 2 numbers before a person speaks to you. They speak slowly, and pause a lot, to keep your phone bill running up. They will repeat everything to you over and over, supposedly to be sure of themselves, but again mostly to keep you talking for as long as possible. You may know what the problem is and try to tell them, but they will insist on talking you through the whole procedure again and again, as if you are stupid. Their website set up is complicated and incomprehensible. I briefly kept my old Clara.Net pages going for that, before getting my own domain name but sadly Clara.net don’t have a Broadband package as yet.
Despite their advertising logo, Orange should declare that the future, with them is far from ‘Bright’. It’s something that rhymes with it though. http://www.orange.co.uk/time/broadbandaccess/
